“Pinning” should be our new favorite word. I’ve been using DeskPins for only 3 days now, and it’s pretty cool. It lets you “pin” a window to the desktop so that it stays on top of other windows. I use this to keep track of windows that I have created to hold statistics that I like to use. Now I don’t have to go hunting through all the windows I have open, they’re right there on top.

View the synth. Do I really need to say how cool that is? It’s not perfect, only 87% synthy. But I took 141 pictures to make it. “Synthy” basically means how well the pictures match together. So out of that 141 pictures there are a few that don’t really match anything at all so they’re kind of left out of the synth view. Photosynth was developed by Microsoft Live Labs. I’d go to the webset and just look at all the cool things you can do with this. There are some stipulations on how you can use it (it’s free if you leave everything as public, but you get limited when you make things private), but it’s definitely worth trying.
I just downloaded and started using some software called Enso. This is some really interesting software. Enso takes over your CAPS LOCK key and actually puts it to good use. Now most of us don’t use the CAPS LOCK key much at all (and for those of you that do, Enso lets you change the control key to a different one), but Enso lets us use it to run commands from the keyboard. For example, let’s say you want to make a sentence all upper-case. You would normally highlight the sentence, then grab the mouse and move it up to the toolbar and select the “Change Case” button, then select the “UPPERCASE” function. With enso, you highlight the sentence, then press the caps lock key and type “upper” and you’ll see the word “upper case” appear. then you just release the caps lock key and the sentence is highlighted.
